ok i have a kenwood 600w amp. its a really good amp and all but the other day it started going off and on. the light on it kinda fades in and out and i lost all bass. the subs still hit just a tiny bit. before i had the loudest system in my town. what is wrong? ive checked my connections everything seems to be connected fine. or could it be its burned out? im in the process of buying a new car and i already need a new cd player... please if there is anything else i need to check or look tell me. i cant afford another amp but gotta have the bass. buying a new one is a last resort. i keep thinking there is something small and stupid im overlooking. and yes the fuses are fine. any help? any causes? could it just be hot being in my car like that in summer? i do have a fan mounted on it and it started doing it while the fan was on it. up until now i have had no problems EVER with it so i figure it may have just burnt out but it still kicks a little and turns on and off. ????????????

you mentioned that the problems started when you put the fan on it, so i would assume that the problem has resulted from that.
theres only a couple things that will cause the amp to turn on and off like that: either the main power/ground wires are beingn disconnected or the turn-on wire is being disconnected or drained enough to not provide an ample signal to tell the amp to turn on. in cases such as a short or heat saturation, the main amp light will still remain lit.
are you running the fan off of the turn-on wire? if so, it may be robbing the amp of this signal it needs in order to turn on. otherwise, i would check the ground connection, those can come loose sometimes. take a volt meter (analog would be preferable in this case) and check the voltage across the main + and ground connections at the amp. see if it spikes and dips as the amp is turning on and off. that will tell you whether or not its a ground/power problem.

well ive had the fan on it a long time because it was bridged. but i unbridged it recently and just left the fan on it just to prolong the life or whatever. the fan is now disconnected because one of the blades broke off in my hand >=\. so its no longer hooked up. the volt meter showed 12 on the connection wires, then i tried a couple of them going out, 0. so its not putting out anything. now it constantly clicks like its clicking on and off and the light doesnt come on at all now i dont think. the ground is securely in place and all wires are connected properly as far as i know i checked over everything briefy today. no subs suck. i hate my car even more now. thank god its about gone =). but i still need my amp working for my next car.
