Ok, Bought a 98 jeepn grand cherokee. The prev owner installed a full sony system recently. 4 sony speakers, sony cdx-ca660x receiver, and a lightning audio b200.2 amplifier. There are also two 10" sony subs in a sealed box. I dont know much about the subs, they look new and say max power 700 watts on them. Heres the situation

theres a toggle switch that was installed on the dash that controls the power to the amp. I turn on the switch and the bolt logo lights up on the amp. But...the subs do not make any sound at all. On the amp in the section marked speakers there are 4 outputs, two positive, two neg. only two wires are hooked up right now, with the other two dangeling. The back of the sub box has a set of inputs behind each sub, the two wires that are connected to the amp run to one of the inputs. the wires that are dangeling run to behind the other input, but are on the ground disconnected.

I tried reconnecting the two wires to the sub box and the two to the amp but still get absolutely no sound at all. Any ideas guys?

I read a review of the headunit online and it said this "The only problem I had was it needed a lot or work to be able to install an amplifier, as the rca cables get disabled when you use the speaker wires from the back." Could the rca's be disabled somehow?

I'm not really famalier with the head unit or the amp, but try disconnecting the 2 rear speakers and then see if the subs work.

sounds to me that the guy has the high inputs and the rcas in and when the amp turns on it doesnt know what the hell to read so just doesnt cooperate

if thats the case then look at your amp see if you got the wires from the rear speakers going into there. if they are disconnect them and just plug the rcas in

as far as the sub hook up i was to lazy to read all those words so if the subs are svc then hook them up in series and bridge to the amp. hook up like so + - + - hook up on the outer two channels thats bridged.

if its dvc bridge the amp and hook up in series parallel (depends on you and your amp but this is just what im refering)

Ok, I hooked up my bazooka tube to see if the amp is working, and it is. Soo...I took the box with the two sony subs inside and opened it up. Two indepenant sealed chambers, just wired normally to the terminal connectors on the back of the box. I tried hookin a speaker up to the amp and no sound, I do the same with the tube and it works.

Called the guy and he said that he believes the subs to be blown, and that they were cheep anyways, he got the pair for $60 He told me what I should do is buy a little better amp and two new subs and Ill be set. So, I conclude-the sony subs are blown. Now...Off to my car audio store to see what subs I should get. Any suggestions? I dont want to spend a lot, but I want good hit. The box is a sealed hatchbox box and holds two 10" subs. Any suggestions?
