#6411, "Noise from Amp?? Better grounding needed??"
ok.. problem just started last week and is really getting annoying. THe noise isn't coming from the front of the car, its coming from only 1 of my 2 amps. It sounds kinds like a high pitched humming. I didn't run my rca cables down the same side as my power cables, I grounded everything under the hood with a custom ground kit, and I grounded the whole stereo system with 8 gauge cable. How come im still getting this noise from only 1 amp?? I know for a fact that its the amp cause it goes away as soon as I turn off my stereo. I just dont understand why Im only getting it from 1 amp and not both. Any ideas ??

you mentioned that it only started a week ago.....what did you change in the past week?
unexpected and unexplained whine can be a symptom of a weakened alternator, although it *SHOULD* appear in all the amps (i use the "*"s to signify that electricity is a strange beast and isnt always consistant).
other than that, i would go with your line of reasoning and suspect a bad ground. are your amps all grounded to the same point or different ones? each situation can lead to problems. when you ground multiple amps to the same point the resistance of the amp grounded in the "top" position can lead to noise, and when you ground the amps to seperate locations you can naturally get a bad ground.

I checked everything out yesterday and what it turned out was that the rca cables were a little to close to my fuel pump. I guess it happend after I got my car detailed, they must have removed my rear seat for some reason and the rca cables fell down a little to close to the pump wires. I just moved everything out and no more noise.
