#6312, "power antenna / stereo wiring?"

hey guys, i converted from the fixed antenna to a universal power one. i've got an RS an my car didn't have the wiring harness back there for the antenna so i had to run wires an crap. i know how to wire everything but was jsut wondering where the best place to tap into to activate the antenna. since my car didn't have the wiring for the antenna, will the harness on the back of the radio have the appropriate wires? i've still got the stock non-infinity system btw. i'm gonna be getting a better HU eventually anyways but would like to have the antenna hooked up for the time being. just want to know if there's a specific wire i can tap into on the stereo's wiring harness or if i should just tap into an accessory wire and be done with it.

oh yea and which wire is it to activate the stereo (the one tapped into the accesory wire from the ignition)? if i'm messing with the wiring i might as well setup some other stuff i wanna do. i'm gonna have my stereo activated by remote eventually. just need to know which wire i splice into. i'm using a relay to isolate the stereo from the rest of the accesories when it's activated by remote. thanks in advance!

haha thanks but which wire is that for? the antenna or the stereo?

i guess i could even use the wire that turns on the stereo to turn on the antenna too but i'd rather use the one specifically for the antenna if it's there...

anybody know?

well.. I was refering to the wireharness inside the dash. even though you dont have power ant from the factory, that wire should still be there. Just take a look and see if you see it. if you do. thats the wire you use.

ohh ok thanks. i actually finished already but i know what you're talkin about now. i just tapped into the accesory wire for now. but yea, i saw that 7 wire harness for the antenna back there. it still baffles me why mitsu used so many wires for a simple power antenna. i'll prolly re-wire stuff when i get an aftermarket deck. i've already got the radio setup to turn on by remote now emoji
