Hey I just bought a 10" kicker solobaric sub (see previous posts) and i'm probably going to buy BMPdirk's rockford fosgate punch 360.2 amp. Do you guys think i would need a capacitor for this setup? Thanks

you only need a capacitor if you want one. all it does is give the amp quick burst of electricity when the amp needs a lil more current to push out, thus making less strain on the battery. if your only going for a 360.2 it wouldnt hurt to get a small .5 farad cap.

There was a big discussion about caps a few post back you might want to check that out, you might want to invest on thick enough wires and a good install of everything before you actually get a cap, if you notice that the lights dimm a lot when your bass is hitting then you should get an cap other then that is a waste of money (for what i know).

I agree with ^^^^ First get proper wiring. For that size amp and a single 10, 4 gauge will work fine! A cap is just stored energy. It must be mounted as close to the amps as possible. When ever you get a large current draw, it will take it from the cap instead of your charging system. I am a firm believer in them and would definitely use one. Don't waste your money on .5 farad, they are junk. Get yourself a 1 farad cap and all will be good

a 1 farad cap is a lil much just for a 360.2

the rise and fall rate of a 1 farad capacitor is not needed by the time the amp gets the added charge the discharge time will only be at only maybe .34usec full discharge time is 5usec depending on what kind of cap you get.anyways what im saying is that a .5 farad cap is very good for a amp of that size and will save you money if you only want big then thats up to you to spend the money. Hell you might not even need it
