I was wondering what are some good ways to get good quality sound from subs but my minimizing the weight from a big box? anyone have any unique setups that dont add a persons weight in the car?

A sealed box won't be too bad in weight. It's good for SQ and it's mostly the subs you have that add the weight. I'm not sure if a flat out to spec box would be lighter or if a custom build one would be though.

for the ultimate lightweight box, you would build it out of carbon-fiber and use a sub with a neodymium magnet. this is expensive and relativly unrealistic.
i agree with the above, try to find a lightweight sub (i *THINK* theres at least a few that use neodymium) first. for the box, you can have one made out of primarily fiberglass with MDF being used for the sub mounitng point and structural support.
if i remember correctly, about a year ago there was a company called "element" (did i spell that right?) that made relaly nice pre-fab fiberglass enclusers that were tubular in shape. i think they sold them on www.sounddomain.com . might want to take a look.
