#6120, "keep my 1800W amp or sell it.. got a JL 12" W7?"

Ok.. I'm getting a 12" JL audio W7 and box. I have a poweracoustik 1800W (peak is 1800W bridged @ 2 ohm... RMS is probably only about 600-700W). It's a 2 channel amp. The W7 is 3.5 ohms, so how should I wire it. My amp is only 2 ohm stable in mono (bridged mode). Would I be better off selling the amp and getting another one?

Anyone know anyone who can help me tune this in the Pittsburgh area (Greensburg)?

i know the w7s are power hungry, but perhaps you should install the sub first and see how you like it on your current amp. no reason to upgrade if you dont need to, right? thats just IMO.

:shhh: i do cocaine :/shhh:

IMHO if your gonna get a sweet a$$ sub like a W7 then you should get a good amp to push it with. Something that has a better power delivery than your current one. And yes ^^^ the W7's are some power hungry beasts, but they will handle just about anything you can throw at them and not even break a sweat.....

I agree with ^^^^. Sell the amp and buy a higher quality one. Isn't JL coming out with an amp just to push those? Besides an 1800watt power acoustic amp is probably equal to about 600watts!

The new JL 1000/1 looks pretty sweet, but me and my loyalty I wanna get my hands on one of the new Orions....they look totally bad ass...

whatever is clever..

that thing can easily take and enjoy 1000 watts so just find an amp that will actually push that and you'll be set.

eh really?

The danger zone listed by JL not to be exceeded is 1500 watts for the 12w7. It's also where the warranty is voided. I don't see why anyone would run 4000 watts to the single sub.. that def. dumb and probably after 2 1000/1's was not gaining anything.

That person will probably burn their sub up. It's def. being pushed a little further than it should be. emoji

Not only that but unless they have seperate voice coils you shouldn't use a bi-amplifier set-up emoji Certain companies are making seperates that can operate with a bi-amplifier set-up, like Nakamichi:thumbsup
