I posted before but no response....I need to find out why the head unit from a gsx won't work in a gs....something to do with the amp? I am not a audio guy but desperately wanna make this work, any help is greatly appreciated.

hmmmm....im not to knowlegable about stock stereo stuff, but perhaps the headunit you just put in was from a car with the premium infinity stereo, and your car doesnt have that? with the premium stereo setup, the signal is sent to an amp under the passengers side front seat, but i would think that the cable for that use would be proprietary only to the premium system. the thing that puzzles me is that you said that the connectors hooked up fine and everything. if its IS from the premium system, it should say "infinity" on it somewhere (i think, not sure on this), but that might help you a little. of course, its also possible that the headunit is just bad. someonw else who knows more about the stock systems then me will have to help you out on this.

Yes, it is the premium infinity unit, and most everything hooks up normally, but there is one port missing a plug on the back....so it must be that there is no amp correct? does anyone know a way around this? meaning, can i buy an aftermarket amp or does it have to be the oem.... and also how do you hook that up? i mean does it just plug into that port on the back of the unit? cuz i would rather just find one in a wrecked eclipse....thanx for the help!

Im sorry.. what I was refering to is something called a "line output converter". something like this, http://www.crutchfield.com/S-SEP1xQSh7xl/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=101PL2 doesn't have to be this particular one, but something like it. well.. if you research a little more, maybe you wont need one, but if you do need it I got an extra one sitting around if your intersted.

Thank you!! I think that is what I need....that's a great help. Do you (or anyone) happen to know any good sites (links) that give basic info on wiring etc? Since I don't know crap about audio I would be nice to have the fundamentals down.....good break from tinkering under the hood.....Thanks again!!

Thanks, I appreciate the offer....but f*ck it....I am going with a whole different setup altogether. Might as well if I wanna change something down the road so I won't have to deal with this all over again. Thanks again!!!
