Does anyone know what kind of amps the stock '95 ESi puts out? I am guessing it's no where near 135-150 amps but I'd still like to know for reference.

I am trying to decide whether I am in ill need of a high output alternator. I haven't experienced any real problems yet.. just some minoring dimming. However, I'm not overally experienced in the alternator and ampere world.

I am giving thought to a bigger battery.. and I don't know how to ultimately decide whether a high output alternator is a must. They're pretty expensive and I just don't have the money to drop on that. I was hopping I could get some insight from someone who's done this, knows someone who has, or just has some good information on the topic.

i believe the stock peak output is 90 amps.

if you only have minor dimming, thers no reason to upgrade the alt. just yet. i would get an optima or similar battery first, that will almost definatly fix the dimming.

if you want a (relativly) low-cost high amperage aftermarket alt, go to www.4alterstart.com , they have 140 (i think) amp units for around 200 bucks.

Thanks that's what I was thinking. Hey 90 amps stock isn't too bad.. I know some cars have a lot less, that's nice to know.

Sounds good.. I've heard a lot about different batteries, I will get to that. $200 is still a bit of an investment.. hopefully I don't quite need it yet.. then again what about someone who has a used one? Most of these things come with lifetime warranties.. maybe someone's used HO alt for cheaper will work too? Any suggestions on that.
