i am running prolly about 80 watts rms to my door speakers (not stock) and figured the factory wires have no chance of holding that power so I went to put in new wires but I can't get to where the rubber wire holder attaches to the body. I took the bottom half on the dash off and put my hand up and I find nothing, no hole or anything? How do I get upgraded wires into the door without leaving the wires dangling outside that rubber thing?

nm, i got it, it was a wiring harness in the way. It was throwing me off, I expected to see two wires, not 20 going into my door (no power options but all the wires are there).

lol ya that wiring harness thing is a PITA to get around... i just left it partially unscrewed so i could run wires around it. that and getting the wires through the boot sucks like hell.

LOL, my drivers side wiring harness cover is still detached at both the door and the car body. those things suck.

one question...why dont you think the factory wire cant hold 80 watts? i belive it is a 16 guage wire, and that should have no noticable difference if you upgrade. according to my MECP wire guide, you wont notice a difference until you get into the 400 watt range. i understand that some people are anal though, so go for it.

actually, you could send a lot more power then that through it, but i tend to keep things on the safe side. i also dont want to offend people who think you "have!" to upgrade the wire to get better sound.

and scroll down on the right frame to "wire" and click on it. scroll down about 1/4 of the way past all the math stuff to the "speaker wire calculator". even at 400 watts with an 8 foot run and a 4 ohm speaker impedence, you are only loosing .1x dbs, somthing you will never be able to percieve anyway. voltage loss and resistence is far more important when installing an amp than speakers.


edit: im also going to say that i only *think* its 16 guage wire...it might be 18, but ill let you plug the numbers in yourself to see why even that wont make a difference at only 80 watts.
