haha so i've been having fun making good use of the extra channels on my alarm. i hooked up the second channel to a power trunk release that i added. that one was pretty simple. the other channel i used to control my power windows. the cool thing is that it uses a single channel to conrol BOTH windows in BOTH directions. basically you hold the button an they go down. the next time you hold it they go up. it's pretty fun to play with. idk if i wanna convert to one touch later. parts were prolly less than $10. just takes awhile to wire it up. the hardest part was setting up the latching relay stuff to alternate between sending a signal to the 'up' relays and the 'down' relays. go it all worked out though. took 6 SPDT relays for the signal and 4 power relays for the actual motors (1 per window per direction).
i think i'm gonna upgrade to a viper 800 or something later on so i can have more channels to play with. i think i wanna do the radio, headlights, maybe an underbody kit eventually... i think that still leaves another channel or two open. hmmm... hehe maybe i'll make my own remote start (with lotsa safety features of course).

it's pretty technical wiring and idk how it'd work with stock windows... does anyone know how the stock windows are wired? do the leads rest at ground or do they float? are there relays w/ the windows or do stock switches just send the power direct? it makes a big difference in wiring...

What kind of an alarm do you have now? i have a viper 500esp. idk what that 550 model comes with.. usually the windows have a separate module you add on to the alarm (unless you do it custom like me). i think most modules use two separate channels though. one for up and one for down. i'm not completely sure though so don't quote me. i know the alarm shop had the windows option when they did my install but you had to choose one direction if you wanted them to do windows.

hmmm ya got me kinda interested... how'd you work that? is it just solenoid mounted somewhere? that'd be especially cool once my engine's something worth looking at
*edit* oh yea, what's the easiest way to add a hood sensor too? and how hard is it to mount some lighting? are there issues with heat an stuff? i figure if i add a hood sensor for the alarm i might as well wire it up to turn on some lighting when the hood's popped. how come our cars don't got any lights under there?

REmote hood popper hehehe. That one's easy I got bored so I stuck on on a Grand prix. I had a freebee alarm that had 2 channels then I found that there was a 3rd so I soldered the output wire on for it.
The hood popper is simply a door lock actuator that is installed to pull the cable for the hood. I mounted mine at the latch. Only down fall about mine is that I had to fad up a metal box to put around it so you couldn't get to it from under the car.
