Hey guys, i just got my 12" dvc alpine type-r subwoofer and wired it to my pioneer amplifier. It doesn't sound good to me and i tried adjusting the gains with no luck. I know i prolly need a new amplifier but what are some good ones to get at a decent price range? I am not brand loyal so it doesn't have to be alpine. Thanx for your input.

I just bought two JL Audio 500/1's. One for each of my JL 15-W3's... love em. Look into the JL amps, and try to listen to one if you can. They also can make full rated power at 4 ohm, a plus if you are working with a dvc sub.

Make sure your amp is definitely set for lows. You don't want it doing Highs and Lowes or HPF.. make sure it's on LPF.

Also.. if you have a bass boost option.. maybe try turning it up.. and make sure your freq. response isn't too low.

i went with a 12inch alpine type r sub and the 200 dollar alpine amp....wouldn't have it any other way. it does help to have a head unit that allows you to play with sub/speaker frequencies and whatnot though. i have my system set up so that the speakers are only picking up the highs and mids and the sub is picking up all the bass. i like the way it sounds...but everybody's opinion is different. just something to think about.
