ok, well i have had my alarm for about 5 months now. everything is working fine but the actual siren. when it gets cold out, it dosent wanna work. not that big of a deal tho, cuz i have a pager to go along with it. my pager still notifies me, but not the siren. im lookin at getting a better/louder exterior alarm but saw some guy had put in a DEI "pain generator" siren inside his car. said it will give you a raging headache in about 10 seconds. now i know that most of the time now, people really just want whats inside your car (stereo, gauges, ect) so im wondering if i should get this lil interior alarm along with a louder outside alarm or forgo the exterior alarm and just do the interior. id really like to get both but id like opinions. i wont always be there to rush out to my car, so id like something that would deter theives. i konw if they really want it they are gonna get it, but the majority of car theives arent that good (notice i said mojority) so a loud alarm would be all it needs for many to leave in a hurry. anyways, TIA for your suggestions.

i would definatly reccomend puting a siren in the cabin of the car. it works not only as a pain generator, but as a psychological deterent. any thief who manages to get in the car will think "jesus, people can here this from miles away" and may abandon the attempt. plus, its pretty easy and cheap to do. just make sure the siren is tucked away so its not easy to disable it. a good place to put it is behind the radio/center console, as its hard to reach and not visable.

There are many types of sirens. Currently, I have a mini piezo (pain generator) siren under my hood, 2 regular sirens inside my car under the interior panels and one regular siren under my car.

Trust me when I say that my car alarm gets noticed. It's crazy loud.

Here's some part numbers for you when you go to a store to buy the DEI versions of the sirens. The pain generator is the 513T and a regular siren is a 514T or 514N.

There is another siren that I recommend, but I do not remember the model number. It actually has a back up battery on the siren. I will be placing this siren in my vehicle, once I stop being lazy.

Another good DEI siren to get is the "Super Loud Siren". It has a neodymium magnet and requires constant, ground, and a siren trigger... VERY loud IMO. I can't remember what the model number is, but I'll get it for you when I go to work. Also, I would recommend putting some of the mini piezo (DEI 513T) sirens inside the car. The best place is where SPL said to put it, under the radio/behind the center console... very loud.
