#5303, "cig lighter cut off"

Hey everyone! I want to rig up a cig lighter cut off switch. Does anyone know of a write-up on how to do this? I'm sure its simple. Hook up a relay to the lighter? -etx

The easiest way to do this is interupt the ground with a simple toggle switch. Switch on...ground is connected. Turn off switch...no more cigarette lighter.

heh. sorry, i should elaborate. I mean a way to rig the car so it will only start if the cig lighter is in. Not a way to turn off the cig lighter emoji. Any ideas?

Huh? LOL....

I understand what you're thinking, but you can't run ignition power through your cigarette lighter, you'll burn it out in a hearbeat. Just get a relay and a switch, put the relay in line with your ignition wire in the ignition harness, then wire your switch to the relay and hide your switch.

But under no circumstances try to run your ignition through the cigarette lighter. If you're set on the cig lighter concept place the switch in line with your cig lighter pre-relay.

Just like he said above, I would just run a hidden toggle switch to the ignition. Even doing it this way, I would still use a relay. Better to be safe then sorry!
