Hey guys, First off, I did search through the Audio Forums, but I recieve the message that what I searched for contained too many topics. So, my results were of every topic in this forum =(.. but my questions are: First, what is the black/yellow wire that is supposed to connect to the HU? Second, how did you guys get the power wire for an amp from the battery? (ie. drilling through firewall?) Thanks and sorry if these have been asked already. -derek

I'm not sure what the black/yellow wire is, but I'm thinking that it is dimmer.
You will only need to connect your h/u's constant power to the battery if you are running an Alpine 60x4 h/u. Those h/u's draw more current than the stock wires.
Another place to hook up the power to constant is at the steering column. There is a constant wire running to the steering wheel that will give you sufficient power for running a 60x4 h/u.

Thanks for the reply, but I was concerned with how to get a power wire from the battery to an amp (not the HU), unless you recommend that I just tap it from the wire in the steering column. Thanks once again. -derek

The easiest place is under the passenger side dash, on the firewall. There is a grommet there with a wire harness going through it. You should be able to get it through there. You can also drill a hole right where the clutch pedal rod would go into, if you dont have a manual. I managed to drill a hole larg enough for my 4 gauge wire right next to my clutch pedal, but it was very tight on space there, and had to be VERY careful befor i drilled, as the brake booster vacume resovoir is right there on the opposite side of the firewall..dont want to put a hole in that I also have a bunch of wireing and lines going through my firewall for all my gauges and such, right next to my gas pedal, like between that and the brake pedal, in the firewall. There are 2 layers of separated steel there, so you have to drill through both. I suppose i can take a pic if needed. Lots of room there and no fear of drilling into something on the other side of the firewall.

Drilling through the firewall is the only way I would recommend for hooking up your amp to the battery. I mis-understood the first post.
If you have an automatic, you're in luck. The best place to drill in this case is through the clutch plate. The hole will be behind the driver's strut tower, up high.
If you have an manual transmission, good luck to you. We have very little places to go through and some even have a double fire-wall.
Look for a grommet and always look behind where you're drilling.

derek, if we meet up again i will show you how i wired mine up. i did not have to drill thru the firewall and i have a manual transmission. do you need a wiring kit? i can get you the nice Monster Cable kits brand new for a decent price.

i have mine run under the DS fender and then through the rubber/plastic piece where the door wiring enters the interior. then its run along the wiring harness going along the bottom of the door frame till its out of the carpeted area, under the back seat(if i had one), and to the trunk area. unfortunately some punk ass bitch stole my system, but i still have the wire so if i get my turbo i can use it for the fuel pump and don't have to run any more wires.
