#4988, "factory radio anti-theft"

Re-installed my factory radio and all I get out of it is either 'oFF' on the display or nothing at all. No audio. I do not have the security code for the radio (didn't come with car). How can I get/input the code?

ok..if this happens in the future to somebody:

1. call a DSM dealer. tell them your battery was replaced (or something similar) and your radio needs a code, you do not have it. They will ask for the serial # on the top of the radio (for 2G's, all you need to do is pull the trim and shine a flashlight in, you can read it just fine).

2. the dealer will give you 3 possible codes.

3. if your radio is already "stolen" (won't accept more codes), you have to apply power to it for 1 hour. Turn the ignition to ACC and turn the radio off - 'oFF' will show in the display. Go watch a movie, get some food, whatever, until the display goes blank. Turn off the car.

4. Turn the radio on again and it will say 'codE'. Press the 1,2,3,4 (radio preset) buttons to change each number. It will read something like 12:34. When the code is displayed press TAPE. If you get 'Err', try the next code the dealer gave you.

5. Enjoy your lovely under-powered stock radio emoji
