for now i might just get a new head unit and i was wondering how many watts would it be safe to get with our stock speakers. also will a new head unit make the stock speakers sound better or wouldnt it really make a difference in them i want decent sound but dont want to spend a lot cause music isnt extremely important to me so would a new HU make the speakers sound better

A new HU would help a little, but it wouldnt be terribly noticable IMO.

New head unit made my stock 6 speakers sound a lot better imo. You can fine tune the settings, and although it's not a HUGE difference, you should be able to notice it. It should sound clearer at high volumes too. It's the first step towards a new system so I would suggest taking it.

i like alpine stuff... a lotta other people use there stuff on here too. it's all a matter of taste. if you want a big name site with lotsa info checkout www.crutchfield.com they're authorized dealers of like everything which is good as far as quality but it also means their prices are pretty much the MSRP. i'm not sure where online is good to buy for a reasonable price. i'm thinking about buying from www.carstereomall.com they seem pretty good and have nice prices.
here's the HU i'm lookin at gettin: high end alpine and needs an external amp. nice stuff though.

a new HU will make a pretty big difference. go with the highest output you can afford, you WANT somthing that will cause the speakers to distort when at full volume (assuming its mechanical distortion caused by overextention of the speaker assembly, not from clipping the output signal of the headunit), because that will give you the cleanest possible signal. just remember not not turn it up beyond the capabilities of the speakers. our stock speakers will hold pretty much anything an aftermarket HU will throw at them though.
