#4909, "Running Wire from Dash Tweeters to Crossovers in Door"
Well, the subject kinda says it all. I'm trying to run speaker wire from the tweeters (Alpine SPR-176A Components) I mounted in the dash to the crossovers I mounted in the doors. I can't seem to get past that stupid rubber grommet thingie and I was wondering if anyone had any brighter ideas because I'm about to snap.
BTW, I already searched the archives and everytime this question was asked, the response seemed to be, "Put the tweeters somewhere else," or, "Mount the crossovers somewhere else." I've still gotta run wire to the speakers in the doors...

how'd ya get the wires from the tweeters down through the dash? i'm gonna get the same components eventually prolly. oh and how'd you mount the crossovers in the door?
now to answer your question. i installed power windows and ran wires in from the doors but i imagine running them back out would be about the same. the rubber grommet thing can come off. the part attached to the body of the car has a plastic rectangular piece inside of it. just pull it and it'll pop off. the part attached to the door is just rubber. just squeeze it and pull it out. it'll still be held in place by the whichever wires are already in place (speakers/windows/locks).
inside the car under the dash there's a white plastic thing thats' sorta like a wiring harness. wires for speakers/windows/lock goes through there. you gotta go around it. you kinda got like down under the dash and look up to find the two screws you need to unscrew. after that there should be enough of a gap around it to run a wire. i think it's prolly easier to go from the outside in. jsut do that and pull the wire back out. use something kinda hard like a coat hanger or something. (you prolly already have something you used for running wires from the tweeters). once you get the wire out of the body of the car you just gotta thread it through that rubber thing. there's a hard piece right in the middle of it that's kinda a pain to get past i think. once you've got it through the rubber thing just put it in the door and hook it up to your crossover. both ends up of the rubber thing should pop back on. just squeeze it a bit. i dunno if you actually need to screw that white wiring harness thing back down inside the car. your wires are gonna be running from the gap around it so it might be better to just leave it unscrewed so your wires don't get pinched. anyways, hope that helped and sorta made sense.

Hah!
Wonderful! I really appreciate this. Circuit City was going to charge 60 bucks to run the wires for me...
Anyways, I went to Home Depot and bought some 34" zip ties. I stuck the pointy part down and guided it through the wires from the top of the dash to the floor. Then I stuck the wires in the box at the end of the zip tie. Pull the entire thing through. Took about 5 minutes.
