Have any of you installed an alarm in an Eclipse before? My alarm is a Viper 500HF CodePlus.My problems are, if i hook up the "switched ignition" wire to a source, the alarm won't arm or disarm.What could cause this? My other prob concerns the power locks.On the harness, there is a blue wire and a green wire, (which color goes with which brown wire?).if anybody wants to give me a password to the directechs.com site i'll love ya forever.TIA

Well there is a programming feature that will let you arm or disarm with the yellow wire seeing ignition on. Be sure its programmed on. "high level sucurity arm/ disarm". But maybe i am not understanding your problem correctly. Is it when the alarm is on, and you turn the key to the "on" position, the alarm doesnt sound??? Be sure the yellow of the alarm is connected to the black/white wire of the car's ignition harness.

We have negative door locks. On the alarm: Green is lock, and Blue is unlock. I have found for the wires on the car can vary at location you get them, but acording to DEI, LOCK= red/blue, UNLOCK=brown/red behind the glove box, in a wire harness. I have also known for the wire colors to be brown, an brown/white. You just need to check and test them to be sure. The stock door lock relays are behind the center console, so you can get the wires there, and you can also get the wires as them come though the driver door boot.

The alarm works fine when i don't have the yellow wire plugged in.When i switch it to a switched ignition source, the alarm won't work.It confuses me...

Are you sure you have the right ignition wire? The yellow wire of the DEI system should connect to the black/white of the car's igniton harness. Do you have a starter kill relay hooked up? Is that connected properly? The alarm's yellow wire goes through that relay, so double check that, if you have that connected. Double check all your wires, something isnt right. If the siren isnt chirping, check the red LED light that plugs into the brain. If its on solid, then its in "valet" mode. To get out of that, turn the key to run, then to off, then push in and release the black push button that comes with the alarm. The LED should go out. This will ONLY work if the yellow wire is hooked to a switched power source. Another way to get into and out of valet mode, is to have the driver door opened, then push button 1, then 2, then 1. (or if you have a 4 buttion transmitter- arm, disarm, then arm).

I chose not to hook up the starter kill relay just because I don't want it.Also I cut the alarm out of my integra and I don't remember how the alarm was hooked up in it before as far as the starter relay is concerned.When the alarm is unarmed, the LED blinks three times (why would it blink if it is unarmed?)and it still doesn't chirp.I don't get it.do I pretty much have to hook up the starter kill relay? TIA>

Ok, something is not hooked up right somewhere. I'll go through it with you. No, you dont have to have the starter kill hooked up also. Here is how you should have all the wires hooked up on the alarm. The led blinking 3 times means zone 3 was triggered when the alarm was on. Thats the door trigger circuit, which may be some of the problem. First, do your interior lights work properly with the doors open/closed?

Here are your wires and their connections:

Alarm wires:

RED= goes to constant power wire in car (white at ignition harness)
BLACK= goes to ground
YELLOW= goes to black/white wire at ignition harness
GREEN= NEGATIVE door trigger input wire, goes to the car's red/green
BROWN= goes to the sirens red positive wire
the siren's black wire goes to ground
WHITE= goes to the car's positive parking light wire= green/white (you MUST check this wire in the car, as the same color wire exists as a negative for parking lights also)

The thin blue and green wires in the 2 pin harness are your door lock wires: Green is (-) lock, and blue is (-) unlock

These are all the main connections you need. Double check all of this. Then go from there. Check the siren wiring too.

Yeah interior lights are fine, alarm sounds when I open the door, Parking lights flash, door locks work now (thanks).The thing that bugs me is that the LED blinks when my Alarm is disarmed, unless i unplug the power fuse,then its normal.The only wire that is not hooked up is the yellow one.Will this affect anything?

Yes it will. The yellow wire "resets" the alarm when the key is turned on. This erases all triggers in the alarms memory. Its blinking 3 times because when you opened the door, the alarm went off, and its telling you that zone 3 was triggered when you disarm the alarm. If you connect the yellow wire, then it will reset. The yellow wire does that when its connected to a switched ignition source.
