ok i was wondering if i could put some 8's in my doors but i have an Rs. so would i need to cut the speaker cover off the door or cut a little more than that?

And when i wire the speakers do i use the existing speaker wires to the headunit, or do i wire it to the amp, or both ? TIA

good luck, LOL. why exactly do you wnat 8"s in the doors anywas? it sounds like you want to feed them a full range signal (you indicated powering them off the HU), and if so you arent going to be pleased with them. also, if you attach them to the door panel itself its going to rattle and vibrate horribly, and in general i have a feeling its not going to sound too good.

MOST of the time people add 8"s to the doors is to fill in the midbass gap that happens in most systems. they are added in addition to the olther speakers in the vehical and are played (roughly) from whereve the sub is crossed over to wherever the highs a crossed over (around 60-200ish hz, although that number varies widly depending on the system). it also allows you to cross your mids over at a higher hz level, so that they sound clearer and more dynamic without getting muddy in the midbass area. you can also turn the subs crossover down a little in order to keep the higher bass notes from smearing the soundstage backwards.

i think theres a post a couple pages back about putting 8" s in the doors, do a search and you should find it.
