yes, they are awesome subs, and NO, it makes no difference if you mount the magnet out. the sub is just a transducer that transforms a/c signal into a piston that moves the cone inward and outward. it doesnt car how you mount it. keep in mind though, that if you mount the sub with the magnet out, it will be 180 degrees out of phase with the rest of the system, so you will need to reverse the + and - wires for both subs (on a side note, sometimes subs sound better 180 degrees out of phase, so you can try both, but anyways...). if ony one sub is out and the other is in, just reverse the wires on the "out" one.
the DVCs sound really damn good in a 2 cubic foot sealed enclosure (per sub). thats perfect for a square box in the hatch that fits perfectly and is 2-3" below the plane the hatch cover creates (assuming you use both subs).

i just had 2 8" rockfrod DVC and i was pushing 300 watts to each. it sounded nice and balanced. i payed $120 for them used in a box. i would buy them again. o yeah i had my system for a month before some asshole stole it and fucked up my car.
