I have 3 12 inch JL Audio W3 DVC (Dual Voice Coil) subs and a Rockford Fosgate 800 watt 2 channel amp. I have just bought a capacitor to help with me running this system and can't find anyone who knows how to properly hook one up. So what I am asking is if anyone on this board knows how to hook one up properly.

okay, first off, find a place for the cap as close to the amp as possible(like 1" away is always good) and put ring the ring terminals on the power&ground leads going to the amp and the ones coming from the battery(the cap will basically be "inline" with the amp)....

now hook up the ground from both sides(to the amp and from the grounding spot) and bolt it down on the cap. then, you take and hold the two rings together going to the amplifier, but don't touch them to the cap(so essentially, power will be supplied to the amplifier). start the car...make sure the system is off....and use the supplied resistor to charge the cap to the car's voltage.

to charge it, you put one end of the resistor on the power lead and the other end on the positive lead of the cap. you'll want to keep your fingers on the actual resistor portion of it and feel for when it gets hot, as soon as it does, take if off for a moment and let it cool down....you'll do this over and over for like 2-3 minutes and it will eventually go longer and longer before heating up. when it gets to the point where it doesn't get too hot to the touch and you can just leave it on there....leave it there for like 3 minutes or so, just to be sure that it's fully charged(if you have a multimeter, that will be very helpfull to you) and once you take the resistor off, put the rings on the cap and bolt it down....

and you're done...
