I'm not too familiar with the Impulse Amps. I imagine they're not too bad. If you trust the guy, it's probably not a bad deal. The "1000 watts" means nothing really. You might want to find out what model it is and check out the kicker website to see what amp it is, what it retails for, and what power it's rated at.

I have the Kicker 2302ix, the biggest impulse amp. They are the bomb, better buy than the ZR amps. They do tend to overheat when ran hard at low ohm loads for 30minutes or longer on a warm day, but pull down your back seat and open your windows will solve that problem. The amp is rated to put out 720w with 12.5volts, and 900w with 14.4volts. Kicker underrates they're amps big time. If you have a capacitor, you can expect a solid 12.9v or better, and the amp should put out right about 875watts, and if you can get the voltage up to 14.4, expect 1100watts. If its the same amp I have, get it!
95 Eclipse gone, meet the Lude. Now driving 97 Honda Prelude. Fast, but a few mods wouldnt hurt. How about a Cold Air Intake for starters...
