Does anybody know what parts of the dash if any need to be removed to get to the dash speakers so they can be replaced.

just take a flat screwdriver and pry up underneath the speaker. It will pop right out

i got a pretty good set of replacements. they are lexan tweeters from ebay. they actually say they are made for 95-99 eclipses. i popped my old ones out with a flat head screwdriver, cut the wires and attached the wires to the ones that came with the new tweeters. \

my stock tweeters never worked since i got the car and it turns out the speakers were blown.

i won the bid on ebay for 10.40 (including shipping!!). there is no reserve and the guy has a ton of them up for bids on ebay.

they are called "95-99 eclipse replacement tweeters" and they fit perfectly in the stock dash. they can be screwed in but i just let gravity do its thing, they arent goin anywhere.
btw they are 175 watt rms, 300 peak and the bid is for a pair.

heres one of the bids

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1374349835

i bit 4.30 and won, sh was 6.00 so 10.30 is what i got them for.

for 10 bucks, they sound great and i like them better than my friends 98gst which has the infinity system. they will be much better than stock, but i dont know how they compare to some tweeters that are around 100$

true that! I spent about 45 min with pliers tryin to get the driver one off alone....fortunatly pliers have wire cuters built into them. snip snip and your done. i went to radioshack and boughht a pack of female connectors for my tweeters...crimp them on and for $4 you have new connectors that can actually be removed in the future.

Yeah I had a hell of a time getting those wires off aswell..... I finally got the off with pliers and all of my strength. I replaced mine with the tweeters that came with my components.
