I have a 15" type r in a 1.9 sealed box with a MA Audio HC2502 amp with 1500w to the sub. Lets just say this set up has the rear hatch push out on the window seal in the 20hertz range (very low) I had 2 12" MTX4000 and this single sub kicks its ass

Yepp....type R's rock. But don't go with an awesome sub then buy a cheap amp. If you get a crappy amp you'll get distortion running through that Type R and you'll end up burning up the voice coils due to underpower distortion spikes. Your best bet is to save your money some. Alpine makes an MRDM 500 which is like 1000 @ 2ohm which would be near perfect for 1 sub. That's actually the set-up for the Alpine/Wings West show car.

I got 2 10s in my hatch. All good except for all that rattling that they cause. emoji

Yeah I have 2 of the Alpine 10s aswell... I am running them with the Alpine M500 mono amp. It hits hard and I am very pleased with the speakers.

I am currently working on a custom fiberglass enclosure in an attempt to reclaim my trunk space. It will fit between the strut towers and have the subs pointing back with the amps flush mounted on the top. Should look pretty nice.

I love my alpine type r's I have 2 of the DVC 12's and they are awesome. I am running a pheonix gold xs2500 on them and the rms on my amp is 500 and it runs both pretty well. I want to upgrade to a bd 1000 so if anyone wants my pheonix gold im sellin it for $200 Great amp and it would power type r's great. Type r's are great subs and sound good with any ammount of power ou throw at them.
