i had it done in my talon before i got a new head unit. didnt have a cd player, just a radio. but it definetly sounded better than the stock speakers. so i say if you got the amp and subs, but cant get a new headunit yet, then hook em up. why not? i had to get a line-out converter though because the stocker didnt have rca outputs.

Is this how you hooked up the sub box? What about an amp, did you have to use one?

I'm new to this and just got a 2-sub box and am doing research on wtf I need to do next. Any help is greatly appreciated.

he's talking about how he got the rca cables to the amp. you need an amp if you have subs. you run the speaker wire out of the amp into the sub box.

so I could have the amp in back with sub, wire from back speaks to amp and then out to sub? I would also have to run power to the amp right? Probably from the battery, but this would work better if the amp were up front, right? Sorry for being a dumbshit but I want to do this the easiest way possible.

you can do it either way, but usually its easier to find a place to mount the amp in the back. you just have to get a long power wire to run from your battery. buy one of those amp installation kits, they have everything you need to install...ground wire, power wire, inline fuse, remote wire/power antenna, etc. i would say get one with 4 guage wire, that should work with almost anything. but then, hook up the rca's into the amp, power wire in, ground it, remote/power ant. wire, and then run your speaker wire out into the subs and you should be good to go.

thanks alot, that way I'd only have to worry about hiding the power wire through the car instead of all wires. I will get a kit and go to town. thanks again Farmdog!!!!!!!!!!

ok ...dude dont put ur amp up front and ur subs in the back u'll loose an icredible amount of power and it'll sound horrible ...keep the wire from the amp to the subs as short as possible

gonna put it all in the back together and splice into the rear spks like you did and run a long power wire from the battery to the back. Any suggestions as to the easiest way to run it though?
Also I got this sub box from Checker Auto for $20 on sale, it has 2 6.5" subs and some tweeters.( 300 Watts capable ) Unit is pretty small and I am kind of regretting it. Do you think this would work at all or should I return it and get something else. Don't want to spend a ton though. Still need an amp also.......
