I need to get a capacitor and am looking at one made by Legacy. It is a 1.0 farad capacitor. It comes w/ the mounting hardware and some other little things for only $50 total.I only have 1 10" sud w/ my amp bridged pushing 150w into it, but I still get dimmed interior lights at night. Crutchfield wants $80 for a .5 far lightning audio cap. This is twice the size for $30 cheaper. Any input will be appreciated. thanks in advance, Justin

All caps are basically equal. Your just paying for the name and packaging with the name brands. I say get it.....

I would stay away from anything Legacy! That stuff is junk. Sometimes you get what you payfor!

I agree that the majority of Leagcy stuff is garbage, but if you were to ever peel off the laberls on the high priced caps and look at the manufacturing stamp, I would be willing to bet the all come off the same assembly line. I have genric balck labeled caps in my car and they are the same identical ones that you would buy from Rockford or Stinger, only difference, about 80 bucks in price. Got mine for 40 bucks for 1.2 farad caps.

So, do you figure that when it comes to caps, they're all about equal, neglecting price. I don't have too much to spend and the legacy ones are pretty reasonable ($50 for a 1 farad). Anyone know where there are some other good ones for a similar price?? Thanks, Justin

What's so bad about the legacy brand? What have you guys experience about them?

I will have to say yes, the generic ones are just as good as the rest. Like I said, the majority of the caps out there come from the same manufacturer with just a pretty label slapped on them to jack the price up. The Legacy cap your looking at probably had one right behind it get a Stinger sticker on it. This is the one area that you can save money on in the autosound arena. Get it and you won't be disappointed, just make sure you charge and hook it up correctly....

i would say that you really shouldnt be getting dimmer interior lights with what you have. sounds like there might be something else wrong? am i crazy here?

Well, i only see the white faced gauges dim alittle, but that may not be the ultimate cause of that. When the amp is on, it just draaws alot of current. It sucks up power that would normally go to charging the battery. I just want the amp to stop taking it all so the rest of the car's electrical system acts more like it should. It just seems like the battery is having a hard time staying charged b/c the amp is taking alot of the power from the alternator. BTW the battery and alternator are both good, we tested them several times to make sure. justin

Your lights shouldn;t be dimming only running about 100 watts...what kind of amp do you have??? When I hook up my HCCA and bridge it down it doesn't even barely make a dent in my lights dimming. You might have something hooked up wrong.....but it never hurts to have a cap...
