i had a vented box built for my 2 12w3-d4's with the 2 12's towards the middle and long vents on the outsides. Right now i have it in with the subs and vents facing back... it seems to have higher spl that way...
the box is so big that it is pushed all the way against the strut tower interior panels and barely fits with like 1 inch of space to where the inside tailight covers are.The box won't face up(like i want). My original plan was to get the best sounding box without having to pay for a lot of custom work. So i was gonna try to make my own false floor looking deal while using my virtual technologies <vtech> box.So right now the only way i can change it is face it towards the front. I have my JL 500/1 just leaning between the box and back seat. I made a piece to attach to the back of my rear seat for my amp,PS2,and my fire extinguisher or cap... but im still wondering what to do or to even use it. I bought 2 rolls of carpet but i have no idea what im gonna do. I just want suggestions or ideas on what to do. I just want it to look a whole lot better than it does now! Right now it's a huge HDF box facing back and you can't even see the subs,with an amp just laying between it and the back seat. i realy want mysubs facing up with my amp flush mounted and to make it look like a false floor. Im just looking for help and suggestions. TIA btw sorry for being so damn confusing hehe

i had the same problem as you!! heres what i did. i built a very simple rectangle box with the subs facing up. i built it high enough to almost be as high as the back seat. then, (heres the tricky part) i built a floor that basically sits on the speaker box flat with holes for the speakers to fit in, i shaped the floor so it fits the angles of my hatch area perfectly. took alot of planing to get the right cuts for that. ill have to get some pictures.

anyway what i ended up with is a flat floor that goes from the top of the back seat all the way to the tail lights. 2 10s in the middle facing up, and the amp mounted utop the floor near the seat. to make it look pretty i lined white vinyl on the top so it matches my enterior. but you could use carpet, paint, whatever. it looks nice and was easy and cheap to do.

the only problem i have with it, is subs dont sound as good pointing up! so be aware of that when you start playing around. subs will usually sound best pointing to the back of the car.
