#3107, "Anyone know where I can find a 1600 x 1 watt amp to power my subs?"

I have 2 MTX blue thunder extreme 12" subs in a sealed enclosure and they're 1700 watts each. I'm looking for an amp with around that much power. I've seen some for 600 and then yesterday I went to monney. They said a 1000 watt amp is $1200. I'm confused. any help on pricing and availability is appreciated. TIA

With amps, you're gonna get what you pay for more or less. I have no clue what brands you're talking about, but a $600 1600W amp is gonna sound horrible and the 1600 will be peak with a low RMS. a good 1600W amp will cost a few grand probably. Get a good 500-600W amp and hope you can still hear when your 60!! emoji

You might want to check out Digital Audio's big amp....

I dunno how much it costs, but I do now they are good amps. I have the 1200 watts x 1 amp and it hit 10 db higher than my last amp. That is pretty impressive. (just so you know 3 db is twice as loud) You might want to check out their website...

Me being partial I would say look into an Orion HCCA 2100r G-4.... It'll bridge down and give you more than enough power to push those things...

I'm not sure what mkerley has been smokin, but it will NOT cost a few grand for an amp like that, there are many places you can get powerful amplifiers for a cheap price, You would more or less pay around $1.00 per watt for a good amp. Thats how you can tell how good of an amp it is. but watch it, alo of places can run up the price. Take for example; a 1200watt pyramid amp.... they cost about hmm... 80-150.00 right? yeah, so there ya go. Thats how crappy Pyramid is though, lol. So at most for a 1600 watt amp you should pay NO MORE then $1800.00

MODS:
-Aircan Mod-
-Silencer removed-
-Blocked of EGR-
-Hose kit-
-WireLoom Kit-
-Short Shifter Mod-
-AudioBahn Audio System-

COMING SOON:
-8-8.5mm Ignition Wires-
-Injen Cold Air Intake-
-50-75shot Nitrous Fogger System-

I'm not even sure anyone makes an amp that strong anymore at 4 ohm RMS. And from what ^^^^^ he said I would disagree. To get something that strong your gonna pay alot more than a buck a watt. Not to mention your gonna want to beef up your electrical system to handle it cuz it's gonna draw a hell of alot of juice. Any good high current amp you get is gonna start sucking some amps opnce you bridge it down enough to get that kind of power. Just make sure you get a good amp and not some Kraco or Audiovox shit. As far as the subs you are pushing, I wouldn't really suggest trying to run them at their rated 1700 watts because I have yet to see MTX run as rated power. Don;'t get me wrong, they are a decent sub, but I don;t see them handling that much power. You'll probably be fine with about 700-800.
