where can i find a dc - ac converter for cheap?? i wanna use a car amp in a 110v AC plug (in a house). i have all this extra stereo equiptment laying around so im playing. anybody done this?

I don't think you'll find one cheap (well I guess it depends on your definition). Best bet is radio shack for probably around $100.

Many people have done this. Don't know if anyone has here, but before they made mp3 players for cars, I saw computers hooked up in cars this way.

Well, I'm not sure about converters, but I'll tell you what I did. I actually had a car battery charger running my car cd player and an amp in my room. Just be careful not to touch the clamps together. I know, kinda cheesy, but it worked. And I think the guy above me thought you meant you were putting house components in you car.

i actually thought about a battery too, but then id have to charge it all the time. dc-ac converters are everywhere, but I can seem to find ac-dc. i just figured since i have a sub and an amp i could easily build a box. but maybe it would be easier to just buy a sub. but ill keep looking

Jersey was right. My bad, i guess I read through there too quick. You want to run your car stereo at home. it's easy. I had that setup like that for a few years.
Again, go to radio shack get an ac to dc converter (~$60). It should run 13-14V or so. Hook the + to amp + and - to amp - and then put a jumper between the + and remote on the amp. just use the switch on the power converter as on/off for the amp.
run rca wires from your head unit to the amp and hook up the sub as with speaker wire and you're set.
