#2894, "Is the remote wire a 12V source or a postive wire?"
Just wondering if the remote wire is a 12V source or a positive wire, because I have this neon light that I cut off the cigarette adaptor end of it and I have the two wires and I want to just hook it up to my amp...to where the ground wire and positive wire touch the amp...but if I did that im shure that it the neon light would stay on...so I was wondering if I went ahead and put the ground wire on the neon light to the ground wire on the amp and the pos. wire on the neon light to the remote wire on the amp...will it power it? Will it hurt to atleast try? Can I hook it up right there up to the amp?

Yeah, you could do that, but most remote turn on leads from a head unit are very low current, and if you hook up a neon light to it, it may damage the head unit. You can hook up a relay to the remote wire, and that would be perfect. Get a spdt relay, hook it up like this: pin#85-ground/pin#86-remote turn on from HU/pin#87-+12 volts(fused)/pin#30- + output to your neons/

I agree. Use a relay and you will be fine. You should really use a relay if you use more then one amp or you run the risk of blowing the remote lead on the head unit.
