#2839, "I just got an amp kit...so how do I hook this bad boy up?"
Aight well I got the subs in the box, the amp, and the head unit. The headunit is an ///Alpine with sub pre-outs, the amp is a MTX Thunder 4200x, and the subs are 2 12" JBL @ 4ohms. I just got a 1000w amp kit with everything...so any write ups on how to set it up? My friend said he would do it THurs. or Sun. but I dont want to wait and I want to do it today on Tues. TIA

amps are pretty straight forward man. should have 3 power wires, 1 goes to battery (labeled as +), other is ground (-), and then theres a remote wire which goes to your deck. the inputs come from your deck. and the speaker wires up to the speakers.

don't put the fuse in before all the wires are hooked up.. also.. if you ever need to disconnect the power or ground wires.. make sure you cut off the power supply.. that's how i fried my first amp..

Ok well I got an idea on where the things hook up...but I got one more question...the little gold ring terminals that came with the amp kit wont fit on my amp. Its too big...so do I just go stop by radio shack and pick one up smaller? 4 gold ring terminals came with the amp kit. Im guessing you use 3 for the 4gauge positive wire(1 from the battery, 2nd one to the inline fuse, and 3rd on the other end of inline fuse) And the 4th one for the ground wire to hook up to the chassis, but what do I use to hook the wires up to the amp? My friend gave me his old amp, is it missing something where the +12V and the Ground wire go? You can see how the gold ring terminal is to big for the amp TIA

You can buy new ring terminals, or just take some snippers and snip the sides off the connector. That will be the easiest way.
As far as the screw goes, you can just find another one, or what I would do, is take one from one of the speaker connections. I assume this amp is going to your subs, assuming your amp will run the ohm load, I would bridge the amp to get the most power. Is it a 2 channel or 4 channel? It looks like it might be a 4 channel. You can take one channel and bridge it to the subs. Again this all depends on whether the amp is 2 ohm stable, 4 ohm, or what. It depends on what ohm the speakers are. So before you bridge the speakers check the specs on the speakers and the amp, otherwise you could fry the amp.
