#2746, "worth it to replace rear speakers?"

i've heard both sides on this one. the guy i bought my system from said that i shouldn't because most of the music is coming from the front. no need to upgrade the rears, and if i did, it would bring down the work i did with the front speakers. this really made me comfortable with buying from the guy. the other side of the fence i've heard is that you NEED something coming from the rear, and thus its worth it. should i, or shouldn't i. i wanna be thorough here, but if i don't need it, i won't upgrade them. i'm looking for sound quality and power/loudness at the same time, but with more an emphasis on sq. let me know guys!

i myself am not running any rears.but if you upgraded your fronst an you are going to use rear speakers then upgrade them.stock speakers sound like ass so if you are going to use rears then yes replace them.but you are fine without using anything back there.just don't run stocks back there with your upgraded fronst it will kill your sq in the car

i might be drunk right now so that is why imisspelled shit.or i just can't spell

well, i replaced my back speakers and they sound great.. only problem is.. it messes up your imagining though, unless you are running more power to the front speakers.. the position of the back speakers are aimed right at our heads, whereas the front speakers are aimed into our legs. very shortly, all my problems will be solved.. hehe

IMAGING... THAT'S WHAT IT IS!!! thanks mike. well, i'm getting my front components in kick panels, so the fronts as also gonna be aimed at my head. i think imaging is the reason the guy at the shop told me it wasn't worth it. should i just upgrade them, and play with the fade (mostly in the front, little in the rear)? how much can it affect the imaging?

if you're planning on doing SQ competitions, dont run anything in the rear, if you want a DAMN good sound coming out of your ride, run some decent speakers in the back, run them off the power from your head unit, and put some kickass speakers in the front, run them off of an amplifier, keep the gain up on the amp so your power's coming from the front but it'll feel like a concert hall cause you got your rear fill as well, just try fading all the way to the front, turning it up and riding around for awhile, then fade 1/4 to the rear and do it again....better eh?

my 2 cents..

^^ nicely put... i would replace the stockers back there. like he said, only if you are competing in a sq comp, then you should take them out. having back speakers in kills it, so no one does it. but personally, i like having the speakers in the back, it makes the car sound more complete imo. and the kick panels will make your sound in the front 100% better.. what are you doing with the door speakers? i have plans for mine and i got all the pieces.. now i just need some time.

could i compete in sq competitions with the upgraded speakers, just have the fade turned all the way to the front? right now, i'm looking at some eclipse speakers for the rear. what's "line source"? one of the eclipse's i am looking at is a 6X9 line source, as opposed to like "2-way/3-way" or whatever. also, mike, did you just get that 97-99 front bumper off of a silver eclipse, cuz the two colors look way different?

yea, i got it from another eclipse.. got a good deal on it, but the thing is... the person i bought it from had put these damn vinyl stickers all over it.. and the places where there was stickers, made the silver kind of dull. its a perfect match for the most part, but then there are several places where the bumper is darker. it looks much less noticable in person... i hate stickers!!!
