#2634, "to anyone who is good with alarms"

i have a clifford alarm that came on my car when i bought it and im having some trouble from it. i usually dont use the keyless entry it has because sometime when you hit the button it leaves the parking lights on from where they flash.. you can mess with it and get them to go off after a few times. anyone know what may cause the parking lights to get stuck on while arming/disarming or unlocking/locking car? thanks

Heh, sounds like the person who installed your alarm way back when ran the dome light supervision wire into your parking lights. Disarm your car and wait a little bit. See if the lights turn off after like a 30second to 1min time frame. If they do chances are that is what happened.

well i messed with it some more today and the lights stayed on for 8 mins after arming it. so i figured somethin is screwed up. sometimes it works ok. and other times it starts freaking out and kicking the parking lights on and off over and over.

Try this. If you can, find the alarm brain, and find the wire that is going to your car's parking light wire. The car's parking light wire is a green/white wire. Find the connection, and when you lights are staying on, disconnect the alarms parking light wire connection at the green/white wire, and see if the parking ligts go out. If they do, then the alarm is at fault..

The parking light wire will be under the driver dash area, as will mostl likely the alarm brain. Just find the alarm brain, and follow where the wires go, one of them should lead you to the car's green/white parking light wire. At where they connected the alarm's wire to the car's wire, just disconnect this, and see if the parking lights go out when you notice the problem occuring..
