#2473, "Pioneer amp only works after its warmed up a bit...?"

I have an old pioneer amp I hooked up and it only works if its hot out or else if it has been warmed up for 15 minutes or so. It will play at low volumes but as soon as you turn it up it cuts off. Whats up with that, is that some sort of feature on these amps? How can I get rid of it because I want to use that for my rear speakers and I like to listen to my music all of the time and loud.

Be sure and check all the amp wiring, and the wiring going to the subs. Check for shorts, loose wires, ect..Other than that, sounds like the amp took a dump emoji

I'm 90% sure that some of the amps internals have gone bad. This happens with televisions coaxial input sometimes. Specifically older RCA TVs.

You said the key word....OLD....sounds like maybe some of the components that are in the power block are getting old and not working properly. You might be able to get it checked out somewhere, but more than likely, unless it is something you can't do without, you might just want to look at getting a new one. One of my old amps was like that, wouldn't play loud unless you cranked the volume way up to kinda kick start it. You might be able to take it apart and see if anything inside looks broken or not. I would just start looking for a new one though......
