#2175, "Subwoofer direction?"

I'm about to build my enclosure & rack and I'm wondering what kind of experience other have had in facing the subs in different directions. My plan is to have them facing up but some say it's not as loud outside the vehical. That's really no concern to me but has it affected the inside sound as well? What do you guys think?

Hey thanks man! I remember that post and tried searching for it with no luck but that's what I needed. I'll be facing mine UP. I'll post pics when I'm done but it's going to be a long install. It'll look tight when it's done though. Later...

i only have one thign to say to add to the old thread. i don't know how many people care about this.

i am too damn cheap to buy dynamat. so what happened was i had the subwoofers originally faced to the back of the car... this caused lots of rattling from the outside. outside the car, i just heard rattling, and it's really nasty.

i turned the subz to the front, and it got rid of 90% of the rattle. I'm sure that facing them back would give more power, but for me, i'm willing to lose a lil bass to stop the rattling

i mean... imagine rolling by the chicks and ur trunk is rattling harder than a honduhs (honduhs rattle like CRAZYYYYY), thas not fun. and i noticed that the bass sounds cleaner and louder from outside the car when it's faced forwards.

it's up to you emoji ... this is just my 2 cents

my 15 faces straight up, and it sounds great.. good reflection.. but i have mad rattles everywhere! but back when i had the 12 in there, i faced it foward for less rattle. our cars trunks are so small that it shouldnt make that much difference.

^^what once was^^

^^what is now.. and permanently^^

Are trunks are really small... I'm having a hard time trying to fit all of this back there:

2 10" Subs
1300w Amp
400w Amp
2 Crossovers
2 Distribution Blocks
1 Capacitor
1 TV Tuner/Video Selector
2 Neon Accent Tubes

It's going to be a tight fit... that's for sure!

"i mean... imagine rolling by the chicks and ur trunk is rattling harder than a honduhs (honduhs rattle like CRAZYYYYY)"

-thats why i dont roll by them, i fly by them. i dont use my car to pick up chicks, i use it to scare the crap out of people! thats why my rear windshild squirter faces right!

-and my speakers face backwards, in a trunk space it bounces back toward the front, and you get a cleaner sound all the way around the car. facing up in my experience has weak spots where you cant hear the bass to good. most profesional audio installers will tell you to face them backward.
