#2122, "Bridging Head Unit?? 1 sub RCA out/2 sub inputs??"

I'm still stock except for a sub but have big plans. I've got a couple questions though. Can you bridge an aftermarket head unit? I was planning on having a 4 channel amp for the rear and door speakers and having the dash speakers run off the HU. Could I bridge the front and rear channels on the HU to the set of dash speakers???

Also. I have a bazooka powered sub that is hooked up off the speaker wire. Once I get a new HU I'll hook it up to the RCA. The new HU has one Sub RCA output but my sub has two (Right and Left) inputs? Should I just hook the RCA out into one input, or get a sliter or something?

Thanks

DON'T bridge the HU! You will fry it if you do. I don't know of any HU's that can do that yet. Just run the front or rear output to the speakers. As for the sub output, it should give you a left and right rca output on the HU, so you can just hook that up to the sub's left and right rca input...But you say it only has one rca output on the HU?? I've never seen that before, but if it really does, then just go to radio shack and get a "Y" adapter. This will devide the signal into 2 rca's so you can hook that up. You MUST use both rca inputs on the Bazooka sub. If you don't, you will not be powering half of the sub's amp inside, and the sup will sound like ass..

The HU has two RCA outputs and one Sub output. Sorry I wasn't more spec. Should I use the subout with the spliter or both right and left on the HU? I'll need the the R/L for my 4 channel amp.

When they say one sub output, it usually means left and right (meaning it has one "pair" of outputs for the subs). It's just the wording that may have confused you. Mine also has 2 regular preouts and one sub preout. The sub preout can be controlled by the head unit (HPF, bass boost etc). It is a pair of outputs.

Yep, your HU will have a pair of rca's for each of Front/Rear/Sub. There will be a left/right rca for each pair of preouts..haha i was kinda like "what?" when you said there was only one rca for a sub out. I only have seen that on home theater equipment so far..So no, you don't need any splitter or anything to hook you up..
