#2040, "Stock CD player problem"

I just got a stock CD player from a 2gnt'r, and he said it worked when he took it out of his car. So I hooked it up, and the radio & cassette player work fine..but the CD player doesn't. I'll slip in a CD, and it will pull it in and stop w/ about 3/4" of the CD still sticking out. Then it will push the disk back out, then pull it back in again. It'll do this about 3 times, and then push the disk out and give me an "E 03" message. So then I tried slipping the disk in, and when it stops I'd push it in the rest of the way..and then it would push the disk back out and give me an "E 01" message. What's wrong w/ this thing?

Thanks, Richard (97 ESi)

man I got a problem just like that. Like before i goto school in the mornin i can listen to a cd fine, then when I go back to my car when school is over, i put in a cd and I get the message E 01. Everytime i go to another track it just changes that 01 to whatever track im at. But my stock cd player takes the whole cd in. I noticed that even in some other situations,, if the cd player works, then I cut off the car, then cut the car back on, it wont work. And thats like in the same minute, so I dont know whats up. I hope we can get it fixed. Tell me if you hear anything

Those error messages are pretty universal amoung cd players i belive. Most likey they are cd read errors, and loading/playing mechanism errors. Stock players can be fixed, but really not worth it IMO. Call around and see who fixes em for a price quote.
