I have two Rockford Fosgate Punch 10's in a fiberglass box in the spare tire well right now, and a cheap Crunch Drive amp that is supposed to put out 250 watts rms. Right now the subs are 8 ohms each in parallel for a 4 ohm load. I'm thinking about getting two of these Pioneer's that are 4 ohms each so I could get down to a 2 ohm load (the amp is stable at 2 ohms mono). Would this be worth it, or would I not hear much difference in sound quality and bass.

Well if your amp is a 2 channel amp that is already bridged, then the amp is already seeing a 2 ohm load. Remember when you combine channels on a 2 channel amp(bridge), the amp will see HALF of the load put upon it. So you have 2 8 ohm subs wired in parallel, which gives you a 4 ohm load. Now hook that up to a bridged amp, and the amp will see a 2 ohm load. As for that model pioneer, i belive its Pioneer's best sub, personally havent really heard them, but i'm sure they sound just fine. The older pio subs were not very good IMO, but these are better. I personally would keep the subs you got, and get a more powerful amp. It will make a WORLD of difference when you put some good, clean power to your subs. That crunch amp's power is overrated, so get a good amp, and you will find out how much louder and cleaner you bass will sound. And by the way, i'm selling my Directed 1100D class D amp that puts out 475 watts at a 4 ohm load, for 200 bucks. This amp will put out 750 watts at a 2 ohm load, and 1100 watts at a 1 ohm load.

Wow, I had NO Idea that bridging an amp causes it to see half the load. The amp is advertised as 1 ohm stable, and it is a 2 channel amp. So that means it is 1 ohm stable if I were using both channels separately, and 2 ohm stable if bridged right?
Hmm, the reason I think I need better subs is because my friend said he could tell they were bottoming out on really low bass notes. Would you think the amp or subs should be replaced first?
BTW, those pioneers are the cheapest pioneer subs I think. There better line is the black colored aluminum cones, which cost about double the price. I also have the cheapest RF subs right now...

Bridging an amp does not automatically cause it to see a lower load. The amp will see whatever load it sees from what it is connectoed to ie your subs. You can bridge an amp at 4 ohms, alot of the cheaper ones are rated that way. Bridging your amp just means that you are taking 2 channels and combining them into one. If your subs are bottoming out it more than likely is the airspace of the enclosure. Punch subs can play pretty low and handle a fair amount of abuse, alot more than those Pioneers will for sure. If you have 8 ohm subs from Punch then I'm thinking you have a higher end model sub. I agree about the Crunch amp though, they aren't the cleanest sounding things in the world, I would take up that offer for the class D and go for the gusto, that alone will probably make your system sound alot better.

You're right dudasd about the load. I talked to a stereo shop, and the amp sees whatever load you give it. Bridging doesn't affect the load it gets, it's just that some amps can't run at 2 ohms bridged. Since I have two 8 ohm Punch XLC (Cheap subs) in parallel, it really is a 4 ohm load bridged. Since my amp can do 2 ohms bridged, I'm thinking of getting two 4 ohm subs in parallel and see how it does. The stereo shop said it sounds like I have about 200 watts, and that I need a more powerful sub. They recommended the RF 400S (400 watt two channel) for 240 cash out the door. I want to get it, but then I'm kinga low on cash and was hoping to get nicer looking subs...not sure what to do anymore, since most amps won't run 2 ohms mono (so getting two 4 ohm subs might not be a good idea unless I go for a class D amp).
