I have a rs without the infinity sound which means that the rear speakers aren't meant to take 6x9's. However I have heard that if you dremel out the plastic you can fit a 6x9 in. So I went out and bought a 150$ pair of infinity 6x9's. Problem is that the screw holes on the speaker and the plastic speaker holder don't match up. My question is can I just get self tapping screws and make new holes? Or will the screw vibrate out? Is there a way around this problem? I don't want to return them.

Same here, just Dremeled it out and screwed them in, by making new holes when you put the screws in the plastic will mold around the threads and you won't have to worry......

yes, please dont spend money on this.. just take a dremmel, a knife, sandpaper.. hell anything to just make the hole bigger. very simple mod... maybe something for the mod page on 2gnt? just a suggestion

ok, i hit a real big road block, after dremeling out the holder i tried to put it back in the car and the speakers magnet doesn't clear the tire well. Does anyone know any high performance speakers that will clear it? I was using Infinity reference 6x9's

HMMMM that's kinda funny, I have the Infinity Kappa's in mine and they fit just fine. Might want to swap to those if you can, ONly thing I had to do was take the stupid rubber magnet guard off to make them fit. Not sure if the Reference have those on or not, but if they do take the thing off you don't need it......

my Xplod ones fight just fine... look really good IMO. I don't know if they are what you would call "great" speakers but they sound good enough for me.
