I have the Sony CDX-M600, and last month my subs started to turn on and off. I took it to my local shop and they found out that the remote turn on inside the deck is bad. the deck is like 15 months old and they wont warranty it. Sony wants $125 and will take who knows how long to fix it. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Should i have it repaired, or should i just get a new one? I have my amp temp wired into the ignition, but with the engine noise and blowing fuses i am not going to have it like that for long.

Maybe you can wire it up to the power for the cigarette lighter (which only comes on when your key is the acc or on position), and put in resistors if necessary. Not sure how many volts the remote turn on is supposed to be? Or some people even wire their remote turn ons to the power going to the stock power antenna. I'm not sure exactly how to do that though.

Think most turn-ons are less than a volt, somewhere in the .3 range i think. If you had a kenwood deck i could help you out, but i don't know anyone that deals with sony's sorry. I had mine hooked up to my fan switch in my old car, that way if po-po tried to hassle me about being to loud I could cut the fan off and ask them just how it could have been me since my stereo didn't work at all...hehehehehe But like I said if you need a quick fix I would just go with the toggle switch.

Most if not ALL aftermarket head units have 12 volt turn on leads. Your easiest solution is to use the accessory wire in the car to power up your amp when the car is on. Or you can use a toggle switch in conjunction with the accessory wire to turn on and off your amp.I wouldn't use a constant power source with a toggle switch because you WILL forget about that it is on once, and if the car sits long enough, you will be left with a drained battery. Sucks about the warrenty though...
