#1829, "Which Head Unit Would You Get?"

So my stock cd player is messing up a lot, wont play cds sometimes, so I want to get a new cd player head unit. I need one that will be good to power subs later on with an amp, and one that looks good, perfeably black to match the inside. And Im also tired of burning cds everytime I want a new song, so Im thinking about getting an mp3 player head unit, or one that you can hook up to a potable mp3 player. Im looking at that Panasonic 801 with the blue screen, i think you can hook up a mp3 player to that. So what head unit should I get?

Alot of people are making MP3 players anymore. Guess it all comes down to personal preference though. You have to go with something that you think looks good and does everything you want it to do. I have been sticking with Kenwood lately since one of my boys is a rep for them I get things pretty cheap. Not to mention they have a nice MP3 unit with like a 10 GB storage capacity that hooks up like a changer. But of course there is also the whole satellite thing out there too, XM and Sirius. That's what I'm switching to, less of a hassle and way more options for formats. I haven't jumped on the MP3 bandwagon yet just because of the fact that depending on where you get your MP3's from you never know from track to track what the sound quality will be like. Just personal preference though. But for total sound control the Kenwood Excelons have about the best sound quality adjustments on the market I think.

I recommend getting a head unit with front/rear/subs preamp outputs. This will let you expand your system a great deal in the future. If you want 3 pre-outs and MP3 support, I like the JVC SD-99 (I think that's the model number). Good luck and hit us back with any questions.

I myself got the Pioneer deh-p6400. Its has dual preouts I think, one of which can be converted to a sub- out. It also has the organic screen with animations. Kinda cool to show people. All the people I have talked to locally have said it is a great deck to build a system on. But like it says above, its up to your personal preference.

i recommend sony, the new ones with the Active black panel, I think their controls are placed for simplicity, easier to use, and they also have high power, its all what you want to look for though.

depends on what you want? ex... ppi21400 amp (the really long one) it runs for like 1,500 or so and i can get it for 850. that new dex-p9 premier radio is like a little over a 1,000 in the stores and i get it for 775. just tell me what you want and i can get you a price same day. the only thing i cant get is JL, diamond and focal. JVC, pioneer, kenwood, ppi, kicker, mb quart, sony, boston acoustic, all screens, vcr's , dvd players, alarms, and whatever else you can think of i can get. i sell it for cost plus tax and unless you live in houston.

i really want the 55430 or above depending on price, but those are discontinued, so something comparable would do.

well i can get a warranty but its expensive. they have a free manufacturer warranty but you have to send in your radio and wait for them to send it back. everything is brand new so if something happens to it then whoever installed it didnt do a good job or the owner just doesnt take care of his things. the warranty on my part is $65. but if anything ever happened to it i could have it replaced. i do this on the side so i can't have warranties like mobile 1 or tweeter. as for the eclipse radio im trying to get you a price. i guarantee it will be cheaper than anywhere else.
