I saw a SOny Explode 800w amp at a local stero shop for 150 bones... is is worth it?? Im just looking for an amp to run one ten inch sub. I think the amp bridged out to one channel at 380w. What you guys think?

If you have a 4 ohm sub then you can probably bridge it and run ~800 watts. See if you can find out that model number. I'm pushing two 10" Sony Xplod Mobile ES subs (the bottlecap 1000 watt series) with my 2252 and it hits very hard and very clean. Don't be scared off by the Sony Mobile name, the amps are very reliable.

If it's model #XM-754SX I got one real cheap too. Friends store carries them and sony is discontinuing a couple of models. Mine's 800 watt also, using it for subs. It was retailing for $299.95. Yes you can run 800watts bridged on it. I really like mine-easy to tune and thumps hard. www.xplodsony.com/products/?CATEGORY=Amp/EQ&MD=XM-754SX

your talking about the SONY Xplode series right?? its a class D amp.. So.. bridging it to one speaker is fine.. I got one of those amps.. and one of the 2 channel ones, and one of the 4 channel ones.. shoot my whole system is built on the sony Xplode theme,, except for the wires and caps that come from rockford fostgate.. if anyone wants to see the install completed.. e-mail me and I will take some pics for people if they want any ideas.

I thought class D amps are usually mono (1 channel) amps? All I know is to check the specs on it, because the watts that it says is higher than what is really puts out. I think a local shop had the 780 watt model for 180, but it really only put out about 250 rms I think. I remember the numbers weren't nearly as high as what was marked on the amp itself.
