Hey,

I got some new speakers about a month ago and was wondering if I amped them would the performance of the speakers be better? Right now my deck is running 50 watt to each of my speakers. I think my front infinity's can handle 150 watt and my rear clarions can handle 200 watt each. Would an amp improve the performance of these speakers? If so, what amp would you recommend?

Your head unit is only giving them like 25 watts RMS. The sound quality should vastly improve with the addition of a 4-channel amplifier. 75x4 or 100x4 would be ideal.

Agreed.

When a head unit says "50Wx4" on the face, that's PEAK numbers. Your deck rarely hits it's peak power output, and you typically listen to it when it's producing between 18-22W per channel.

Find a good amp that produces 70-100W per channel of RMS power, and you'll notice a world of difference.

As far as amp recommendations, you'll get what you pay for more or less. I like Xtant, but it's up to you and how much $$$ you got to throw out.

my eclipse deck is rated at 13 x 4 and its the loudest deck power i've ever heard, amp will sound cleaner also if installed right

Preferably if you have the cash available, you only want to use 2 channel amps. But even if you go with a 4 channel, make sure you drop a crossover in the mix, that way you highs and mids aren't getting tweaked out by the bass freq's....you can get a fairly decent crossover for around 150 bucks on the low end, just make sure you get at least a 3-way though so you get some sort of channel seperation. It doesn't take a gob of power to push your mids and highs anyways, I only have to old school Alpine 3522's to run mine(rated at 25x2)...and that hangs nicely with the onlsaught from the subs which are seeing roughly 1200 watts of power.....
