#12160, "Radio Wiring Problem!"

hey guys first post here.

here's my problem. the idiot that had my '95 ESi cut the factory harness for the radio and hard wired the radio. when i bought my car his radio was still in the car. he was away in the coast guard and his mom told me the radio was not included, so i had to take it out. upon reinstalling a radio i also had to hard wire my head unit. after everything was done the dash lights don't work anymore, the first two air blower positions don't work, the cigarette lighter doesn't work, & the horn doesn't work. any ideas???

ughh check the fuse box lol. if not the fuse box what state u live in. i live in md adn can maybe take a look at it. as far as the vents go did u put the dash back on correctly cause thats just air blowing through a tube nothing electrical. the whole ac/heat system is tapped into one source not multiply for each vent or sets of vents. def. sounds like a fuse problem or some retard tapped the dash lights, horn, adn radio all into the same power source and you didnt hook it back up.

Does the Talon have the factory amp under the seat? Did you insulate all the unused wires left over from the install. Maybe the illumination switch wire is shorted out.

Obviously check all fuses first and go from there. The illumation wire will be neutal and go to positive when you turn on your parking lights if you want to test for the wire. Sorry, cant remember the color off the top of my head.

I'll see what information I have at work and try to post again

call any circuit city and connect to there install bay and they can look up all vehicle color wiring diagrams for you and tell you the colors and locations of the wires.

Radio 12v red +
Radio Ground (chassis) -
Radio Ignition blue +
Radio Illumination green/white +
Factory Amp Turn-on N/A
Power Antenna white/black +
LF Speaker +/- white/blue - black/blue
RF Speaker +/- white/red - black/red
LR Speaker +/- yellow/blue - gray/blue
RR Speaker +/- yellow/red - gray/red

Heres all the colors for a 97 eclipse. Should be the same, Mitsu never changes any radio colors from 91 to 05. The wire colors hopefully are the same. Make sure the green/white wire is not touching ground. Didn't have enough time at work today to check on the fuse location. Some fuses maybe under the hood. Japanese cars are great at having two seperate fuse for one common feature. Just check them all if you have a tester. Just a cheap $5.00 continuity tester will do from the local hardware store.
