Why won't it work connecting it to the obd port? I have a similar unit to yours and its how I hooked mine up. Tommorow I will take a picture of the back of the harness and show you where I tapped mine in. I would have provided the information before if I had it but I was unable to because I did'nt have my car with me. Trust me though, you tap it to the back of the obd port to the corresponding wire, its much easier that way.

I couldnt go outside with my camera due to certain reasons but anyway I did take a look, and its a yellow wire with silver dashs on it, its at the end of the obd plug, you can unclip it from the metal bracket and pull it down a little bit so its easier to work with. That should do the trick for you.

Directechs.com said it was also the yellow/white under the dash at the data link connector under the drivers dash. It should be the only wire this color. I don't know what the resting voltage is in the wire, but there is an easy way to test it. If you have a good voltage meter (fluke perferably) just set it to AC voltage and drive around. The faster you go, the more voltage it will read through on the meter.

The new AVIC should have a auto learning speed sense on it like the kenwood nav. When you hook it up it might act funny (like it says your going 100 mph when your going actually going 20mph.) If it does that just keep driving around. It should auto learn your speed sense pulse.

Pioneer works a little differently. But that is the correct wire. Because that is exactly what I tapped into.

I have to sell this unit in my shop. Good to know it doesn't have auto learning speed sense. Some cars will not give the proper speed sense reading if there is no auto learning. I pretty sure the 2g's have "normal" speed sense readings. Sounds like you have this deck and its working fine for you.
