#11144, "sound system question"

i recently had my subs stop working for some reason, the fuse in the engine bay was blown because i think i grounded something out by accident.

anyway, i replaced the fuses and the subs dont work now. the amp turns on, but the subs just instantly go to max travel and stick there...

any idea whats up? im not all that into sound systems, and just like it when it works....wires arent my friends

throw me a bone

Explain what you mean by max travel? and what kind of headunit do you have. I know some headunits you have to turn the subs on through the controls. Like my Pioneer for example.. default it keeps the subs turned off until I go into the controls and turn them on.

max travel, as in they just push up in the box to their max and then stay there. kinda like someone is pushing on the sub from the bottom.

the headunit is fine though i dont need to turn the subs on

Most likely when you arc'd your shit and blew that fuse you fried the circuits in the amp. Just because something will "turn on" doesn't mean it will work.

your pretty screwed josh. amps dont deliver a d/c signal if there isnt something messed up internally.

on a side note...it is VERY bad for your subs if you leave the amp on for too long. subs rely on thier travel back-and-forth to adquitly cool, and if they are stuck at either end of travel, they have a hard time dissipating heat.

:shhh: i do cocaine :/shhh:
