my factory terminals are completly shot so ive been lookin around at some nice terminals for my car, the problem is that i dont know exactly waht im going to need. i have that big giant power wire for the car which im assuming is a 0 gauge. then i have the 4 white wires that im guessing go to the accesories or somethign. i have no clue about those. cant i join them all together and be about the same size as a 0 gauge wire, then i have my 8 gauge amp wire. i cant seem to fine ANY terminal that seems to fit all that due to the 4 white ones. would a terminal that supports two 0 gauge wires and one 8 gauge be enough, or wont those 4 white ones fit into a 0 gauge slot. then theres one that holds one 0 gauge, one 4 gauge, and two 8 gauge. and its just getting to confusing for me when not knowing the wire sizes. if anyone has ever replaced the terminals with high quality ones your help would be greatly appriciated. thanks a ton

Here's my suggestion and what I did when I had the same problem.

For the negative, just cut off the old wire at the grounding bolt and replace that short wire section with a new pre-made black jumper.

For the positive terminal, it is best to splice all the wires together away from the corrosive area of the battery. See the photos. I bought a battery terminal with a very short wire and lug on the other end. At the lug, I bolted all the positive leads together with a 1/4-20 bolt and nut, greased them with di-electric grease and then wrapped them up tightly with self-vulcanizing tape and shrink tube to seal it up good. Be sure there is absolutely no corrosion being sealed up when you make this splice. Now you can attach the positive terminal as shown. I like to use a plastic protector so I don't have any wrenches accidently arc across the terminals. I also coat the surface with dielectric grease. The photos show how my terminals look after over a year of service with no corrosion showing yet. If your battery does leak a little, the important splice is away from there and will not fail as easily. It certaily looks better too, when all those wires aren't crammed up into the positive terminal.

very good post with pictures. I'm going to do the same thing since i have a very nice gold plated terminal off my s10 that i couldn't use because of all the additional wires.

Where did you find heat shrink that size? I've never found any that would fit around wires that size.

I have either a Fry's Electronics in town or a Circuit Specialist to choose from.

I could send some shrink in an envelope for a few bucks Paypaled if you get desperate for shrink tube.

Any local NAPA, etc. should have it though. Maybe Radio Shack?

I'll check out radio shack when i get back from school. Never thought of them. I'm sure there are some electrical specialty stores back home but i just don't know of them.
