#10065, "Maybe Someone Here Can Explain This To Me"

What's up?
I just bought this Eclipse the other day and the stereo sounds pretty good I guess but there's something weird going on. When I have the fade for front and rear in the center all speakers play fine. When I put it in the back the back speakers play, as one would expect. Now, when I fade it all the way forward no speakers play, wtf?

Anyone know what might be up with this?

Joseph

nah, it's a stock head unit. I went to check it out, ill prolly have to just take it all apart and look on the back of it or soemthing. The tweeters, or those little 3inch speakers are plugged in and they arn't working, regardless of where i have the fader.

I got my speakers installed by a shop and this happened with my rear passenger side speaker - the more power you put to it, the less it would play. they fixed the problem - but I am pretty sure their explanation made it sound as if the positives and negatives for different speakers were mismatched. ie. the + wire for the front left speaker was paired with the - wire for the right rear speaker, and then both were run to the right rear, so weird things happened. your wires might be crossed somewhere, but for the speakers to play at all they are most definitely plugged in so that can't be the problem.

Yeah it's really weird. Here's a more detailed "what's happening":

The front door speakers are playing mostly if not 100% bass tones. No highs and maybe a little bit of mid.

The dash speakers, 3.5s?, arn't playing anything at all.

And the rear speakers are doing their thing playing all tones, high mid and low.

It's really annoying cause all the voices are coming from the back and my leg is being rattled by the bass lol.

I plan on getting rid of all the speakers/headunit/amp anyway and replacing them with some good stuff.

What does everyone recommend?

/end evan type post.

I think the speakers in the door are only designed to play mid and low, because we have the tweeters in the dash to do the highs. As far as your fading problem goes; that's just odd. I have never heard of anything like that so I'm thinking something is not wired correctly. I wouldn't worry about it if you plan on replacing the stuff anyway.
