They are making new one with main features of 1 mile range and dot matrix lcd remote. AvantGuard 5.5x. Looks pritty cool but $700 I don't think it's worth it.

But the remote if way too cool!!!

That would be great for people who are extremely paranoid.

Well for extremely paranoid they have alarms that can activated, deactivated and tracked through GPS or cell phone network. I think the long range remote is not new and compustar had an alarm with a mile range for a while, the coolest feature is the dot matrix display. Long range is very useful feature for a remote start. Instead of goofy icons on current 2 way remote transmitters, this one can display anything on the screen, still displays icons but now they look good.

Is it need? no. is it cool gizmo? yes!!!
Does ur cellphone need a color display? no. was it become cool and became a standard feature on most? yes

btw they clifford is not the first ones to come up with that, prestige aps998 has a dot matrix display but Clifford aka DEI did take it to a different level. I am waiting for APS998 to come out on the market. I'll snatch it right of the shelf.

Basic features Range is ¼ mile and the dot matrix display shows only messages.

I do know that the Trailblazer that I will be getting has a remote start on it that works up to 4 football fields away. Needed... no, fun? Yes!

That is awesome. I would assume that u live in a suburban area. Get to a big city and you will be lucky if it will work form 2 blocks away plus add if you live on a 6th floor you don't really want to come out and worm up the car so long range becomes a plus.

I know spark plugs are not a mod but the car runs so smooth now.

I won't be getting the Trailblazer for a couple of months...

My parents are moving to India and handing the title to that vehicle over to me.

That starter was somewhere around $4000, but that probably also included the installation which probably made up a big chunk of that.

I do know it does work 100 yards away no problem.

The only problem with that is whenever the Remote Start is used, the security light won't turn off on the dash.

I read your post in pits and how you are giving up on your 2gnt/or making it better. Good luck with that, I am sure that if you took your eclipse to over 200k you will not have any trouble going over 300 in the blazer.

I hope $4000 dollar price tag is a typo and you really wanted to say $400, which should get you a decent alarm + remote start so 100 yards is believable but not 4 football fields.

It was not in the hundreds... it was a couple/few thousand for that... I think it was so high because of how many computer systems it needed to be attached to for it to work.

I'm not giving up the car, I'll put it in storage until I have the money to improve it.

This was done back in '02, so I'm sure the price has gone down on the remote start. I'll ask my parents what kind it was. I wanted a remote start for my car, but apparantly you are not allowed to put one in a car with a manual transmission.

In no way could you possibly pay $4000 for an alarm. Maybe if you got it from a dealer with some extra extra servises like onstar subsciprtion for 100 years they would rip you of but even then if u got shevy oem alarm those are known for very short range and the cost, it just can not be in thousands impossible. I remember when they were just starting with the remote starts back 8 years or so you could get one for under a grand. I just refuse to believe that some one had an indecency to rip off your parents for thousands of dollars.

Well if you were going to keep your car on the road, there is a way to install autostart on manual google it or ask me later but nothing a bunch of safety switches can not handle. Ex compustar:

^^^ manual transmission compatible
